Alden L. Hansell, a cherished figure known for his loving nature, friendly demeanor, and spirited zest for life, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at the age of 90 in Montvale, New Jersey. Born on August 6, 1935, in Hackensack, New Jersey, to the late Albert and Gladys Hansell, Alden's life was one marked by joy, dedication to his family, and an unwavering sense of community.
Alden's early years in Hackensack were the foundation of a life lived with gusto and a deep commitment to education. He attended Hackensack High school and later completed his MBA at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where his pursuit of knowledge was only matched by his enthusiasm for building lasting relationships. After completing his studies, Alden went on to lead a life that was as rewarding personally as it was professionally. Alden settled with his family in Suffern, New York where they lived for many years, adding family and so many great friends and memories.
Alden is survived by his devoted son, Thomas S. Hansell; his loving daughters, Laura Zimmermann and Arlynn Hansell; and his sister, Lois Steele. He was a proud grandfather to Thomas J. Hansell, Nicole Hansell, Jason Zimmermann, and the late Kevin Zimmermann. His joy was further multiplied by his great-grandchildren, Phoenix Zimmermann, Callie Cuomo, Olivia Cuomo, and Emma Hansell, who will carry the legacy of his kindhearted spirit.
Throughout his life, Alden was a beacon of warmth and friendship, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. He loved the outdoors, camping and giving back to the community and church and always lending a hand to those in need. His presence could light up a room, and his laughter was infectious to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Alden's love for his family was immeasurable, and he instilled in them values of compassion, resilience, and the importance of cherishing every moment.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 4 PM - 8 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Avenue, Ramsey, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 10 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Ramsey.
