Alessandro Pillepich

Alessandro Pillepich, 95, of Mahwah passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 10, 2021.

Alex was born in Unije, Croatia where he spent his first 21 years before emigrating to the United States. After settling in New York City, Alex raised a family in North Bergen, N.J. before retiring to Southold, N.Y. and Mahwah, N.J. Alex began his career with the Pennsylvania Central Railroad before later joining and retiring from the Leonia Public Schools District. He was also a long-time member, officer and Treasurer of the Istrian Benevolent Association. 

Alex was preceded in death by his wife Mary (nee, Nikolich), parents, Alex and Germana (nee, Nikolich) and brother George. He is survived by his son George (wife Thelma), and daughter Adrienne Jenkins (husband Jonathan.) Also surviving are his grandchildren Leslie, Michelle and David and step grandchildren Jason and Seth.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 – 8 PM at Van Emburgh–Sneider–Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Avenue, Ramsey 07446. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 10 AM at Church of the Presentation, 271 W. Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, N.J. 07458. Cremation will be private.
