Amy Quartuccio (78), beloved wife of Dominick Quartuccio Sr (81) and mother of Mary (47) and Dominick Jr (46), passed away peacefully in the arms of her loved ones on Wednesday March 26th after living with Alzheimer’s for 7 years.
Amy was the first of 9 children born to Frank and Kathleen Vandever on November 6th 1946 in St Louis, Missouri.
Amy absolutely adored her 8 younger siblings: Christy, Joe, Mark, Grace, Frankie, Mayme, Mary and Kathy. Even in her final days, when Alzheimer’s had stripped most of her speech and memory, Amy would joyfully recall “my sisters, my brothers.”
In 1976, Amy married her life partner and husband Dominick Sr, with whom she would build a beautiful life for the next 48 years.
In the late stages of her Alzheimer’s condition when she needed full time care, Dominick Sr stayed by her side, visiting her every single day and feeding her dinner.
Amy was also known as “Mom” to her two children Mary and Dominick, who hit the jackpot with her as their mother. She was born for the role, shining her light of unconditional love on her kids during every stage of their life.
Amy loved hiking, playing tennis and spending quality time with friends. She was never too busy for those she cared about, and she was always the last one out of the church parking lot after talking to everyone she knew.
Amy also had a soft spot for the overlooked and those down on hard times. She was involved with supporting women’s shelters, displaced war refugees, and various food shelters and soup kitchens.
In her final years, even as Alzheimer’s stripped many of her faculties, it could never dim her bright shining light: smiling, laughing and playing all the way to the very end.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 4-8 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Paul R.C. Church in Ramsey, NJ. (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH) Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, Amy would much rather a tree be planted to support her love of nature or a donation made to help children in need:
