Angela Maria Darata was born on August 13, 1949 to Jon and Mary Darata, the second of three girls. She attended St. Joseph Parochial School, Wilson Elementary School, Lodi High School, and Edward Williams College in New Jersey. Her loving daughter Gina was her pride and joy. In addition, she leaves behind a multitude of family and friends, whose lives were touched by her, and her loving spirit.
Throughout the course of her life, she achieved many milestones including entrepreneur, author, Justice of the Peace, securities and real estate license holder. She was honored as a Pioneer Woman of the 90’s and Woman of the Year, for her community service work in her hometown of Lodi, NJ. She served as President of the Lodi Chamber of Commerce, was active in the Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs, and sat on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Lodi.
She spent 8 years living in Cambridge, Massachusetts with her former husband and daughter. While she was there, she worked in retail, and won several awards including Outstanding Store Manager. She later came back to Lodi to help her mother, Mary Darata run her clothing store, The Judy Shoppe.
After her mother Mary passed away, Angela spent a good part of her later life living in an old church in the Sussex County countryside. During this time, she finally opened her own clothing store, The Fashion Fix Boutique in the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse. She enjoyed this time of her life so much that she fondly described it as “the happiest years of my life”. After retiring, she moved back to Bergen County and spent her final days living with her daughter Gina in Waldwick, NJ.
She was a devout Roman Catholic, who embraced her Christianity with every fiber of her being. She often spoke of being with her Creator once again. Her many acts of kindness and generosity, will leave an indelible mark on all who loved her.
Visitation will be held on Monday August 19, 2024 from 8 AM - 10 AM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Avenue, Ramsey. A funeral mass will follow at 10:30 AM at Guardian Angel RC Church in Allendale. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Lodi.
