Ann H. (Hornung) Miles

Ann Miles (nee Hornung) of Mahwah, NJ, formerly of River Vale, NJ passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at the age of 89. Ann is survived by her children, Barbara Dillon, and her husband Thomas, of Mahwah, NJ; John Miles and his wife, Mary, of Virginia Beach, VA; and James Miles, and his wife, Nancy, of River Vale, NJ. Ann had 6 grandchildren, Michael and his wife Rachel; Keith and his wife Nicole; Christopher, Annemarie and her husband Justin, Kathleen, and Shannon, and 4 great-grandchildren, James, Elizabeth, Miles, and Oliver. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, James, in 2010. Ann was born on November 18, 1933 to Anna and John Hornung in Bronx, NY. As a young adult, she moved with her parents and younger sister to Dumont, NJ. She commuted every day to NYC, where she worked as a medical assistant. In October, 1954 she married James Miles, moving to New Milford, NJ, and eventually settling in River Vale, NJ, where they raised their 3 children. Ann’s grandchildren and great-grand children were the loves of her life. She especially enjoyed sharing her amazing artistic talent with them. Pencil drawing was truly her passion. It will take years to go through all the boxes containing her drawings. Ann was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Mahwah, NJ since moving to Mahwah in 2017. Ann’s funeral service will be held there on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 10:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 47 Island Road, Mahwah, NJ   07430
