Ann Nardo, a lifelong resident of Ramsey New Jersey, passed away on June 24, 2022 at the age of 89.
The family would like to give special mention to thank Silvio Youla and Alexandra Singer for their devotion, support and friendship to Ann.
Ann loved music and enjoyed being a tenor in the Ramapo Valley Sweet Adeline’s Chorus for many years and was part of their chorus when they became international champions. When listening to the chorus of over 100 women, you could hear Ann’s voice from the highest bleacher! She was a member of St Paul RC Church choir where she served as a lector. She was an active member of her local women’s club, and also immensely enjoyed her Rock Bible family.
In her younger years, Ann drove a yellow mustang, was an avid skier, and travelled Europe and the Caribbean. She had a teaching career spanning three decades starting at Ramsey High School as a Biology teacher where she was also the Cheerleading coach. She retired from Paramus High School where she taught biology and mentored many students. She was the first woman in her family to receive a college degree, which was from Montclair State Teacher’s College.
Ann had an amazing will to live and zest for life into her late years, and was never happier than when she was in the company of her many friends and family members. She had a very close relationship with her three brothers, Samuel, Vincent and Anthony.
The family would like to share a few memories of Ann.
She was a very compassionate person
She always would call to sing Happy Birthday to us on our birthdays. She never missed a birthday. In person, she would sing harmony alongside everyone else.
She loved to snack; “I’m not hungry, I’ll just pick”
She was a great story teller and could make us all laugh!
Ann was an animal lover and had a beautiful white kitty named Fluffy who often travelled with her to visit family
She adored her sister-in-law Carol and especially enjoyed Carol’s cooking
Ann enjoyed many road trips to Maine with her brother Vince and her nephews
Ann always had her hair done and makeup on. During a family vacation in Maine, her brothers Tony and Vince convinced her the water was shallow off the side of the boat when she had just had her hair done. All of Panther Pond in Raymond, Maine heard her yell when she went in the water over her head! Bad boy Tony!
In early high school, Ann worked as a soda fountain jerk at Basil’s in Ramsey
She adored her teachers while in high school, and they inspired her to become a teacher
Ann was a good friend, reaching out to friends and family in need and helping pass the time with them
She enjoyed a love of music with her sister-in-law Joyce
She always wanted to see her sister-in-law Marie again
Ann is survived by her brother Anthony, his wife Carol, and their three daughters Donna, Lauren (Joseph) and Lisa, as well as her nephews Vincent and Phil (Pam).
Donations may be made to the St Paul RC Church of Ramsey, NJ in her memory. Private services will be held on Tuesday, June 28th.
