Anne DeAngelis (nee Ruberry), 71, left her friends and family unexpectedly on April 15, 2026, believing that the best things in life are the people we love, the kindness we share, and the memories we make along the way. She loved deeply and was deeply loved.
Anne considered herself a “Jersey Girl” through and through, having spent her whole life living in Bergen County, first in Fairview and then in Ramsey. She attended St. John the Baptist Elementary School and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School, West New York, where she developed lifelong friendships that were very meaningful to her. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in sociology from St. Peter’s University and a master’s degree in human resources from Rutger’s School of Management. While in high school, Anne started working for the Orange and Black Bus Company in Fairview in 1972, continuing a career with New Jersey Transit until she retired in 2016. Anne loved her job and took pride in her dedication to her career; but more importantly, she valued all the great people she met and befriended along the way. Anne brightened the lives of so very many people.
Anne was passionate about social justice, the environment, and the humane treatment of animals. She yearned for a more peaceful world. She fed all God’s creatures who wandered through or flew into her backyard and loved with care all the dogs who shared her life over the years.
She is survived by her sisters Joan Ruberry (Colleen Fitzpatrick) and Kathy Parisi, her niece Dana Parisi (Jennifer), niece Teri Parisi, nephew Dom Parisi (Erin), great nephews Matthew and Luke, great niece Sydney, dog Isabel, and numerous treasured friends. Anne was preceded in death by her parents Matthew and Joan Ruberry and her longtime friend Jim Tooman. Anne loved her family and we loved her; her memory lives in our hearts.
Visitation will be held on June 19, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, Ramsey, with a brief memorial service during those hours around noon.
