Arthur Alsdorf

Arthur Alsdorf, 94, of Pequannock, NJ, formerly of Allendale, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. Born and raised on the grounds of the Allendale Coal and Lumber Co., Arthur dedicated many years of his life to the town of Allendale, serving as the Assistant Superintendent of the Allendale Water Department for 39 years, as a member of the Allendale Police Department for 26 years, and as a member of the Fire Department for 69 years.  Arthur held the position of Chief of the Allendale Fire Department from 1965-1966. Arthur, lovingly referred to as “Big Art”, loved spending time with his grandchildren, old trucks and steam engine shows, collecting toys, and catching squirrels.

Beloved husband to Margo (nee Ackerson) for 38 years. Son of John and Viola (nee Benjamin) Alsdorf. Loving father of son Arthur “Little Art” (predeceased), daughter Maryann Williams and husband George, son Tracy, step-daughter Lori Martin and husband Stephen. Proud Grandfather to Maryann Muzzillo and Kris Muzzillo, both pre-deceased, Craig Muzzillo, Kristina Alsdorf, Michael Martin and wife Jhonna, and Lisa Martin. Great Grandfather to Ozander, Kristina, Crystal, Timothy, and Tyler. Great Great Grandfather to Ava and Kayden. Loving brother to Flora Armitage, John, Charles, and Michael Alsdorf. Predeceased by siblings Howard, Francis (“Jake”), David Alsdorf, Catherine Pflegl, and Mary Reidda. Cherished uncle and loving friend to many.

Visitation will be held on Friday September 10th from 4 - 8 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home located at 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Saturday September 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, followed immediately by interment at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.
