Arthur Del Colliano, Esq. of Mahwah, New Jersey, and Bethel, New York, passed away peacefully on May 2nd at the age of 78 surrounded by his family—his daughters Beth and Jean, and his wife Catherine. He resided in New Jersey for his entire life. After graduating from Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey, Arthur went on to Fairfield University and St. Peter’s College. He graduated with distinction in his major of American History. Subsequently, he graduated from Fordham Law School in Manhattan, New York. He served for six years in the United States Army Reserve as a military policeman, rising to the rank of sergeant. After law school, he secured a judicial clerkship with the (late) Honorable Salvatore Ruggiero, judge of the Superior Court, Chancery Division in Passaic County, New Jersey. After his clerkship, he was employed for five years as an associate attorney with the law firm of Rose, Poley, Bromley & Landers in Hackensack, New Jersey. Thereafter, he started his own legal practice in 1976 and retired in 2017. During his time practicing as an attorney, he received numerous governmental appointments including: Mahwah Municipal Prosecutor, member of the Mahwah Board of Adjustment, two terms as Mahwah Sewer Assessment Commissioner, counsel to the Ridgefield Planning Board, counsel to the Leonia Board of Education, and special counsel to the town of Franklin Lakes. He was also a member of the Bergen County Bar Association and served as a panelist for twenty years in the Bergen County Early Settlement Program. Arthur loved the Spanish language and used every opportunity to pursue a conversation en Español. He also possessed an enthusiasm for history books and biographies, and he could often be found reclining in his favorite chair with one in hand. He loved sailing and kayaking with his friends and family at his lake house upstate. Arthur loved and was proud of his family: his beloved wife, Catherine, to whom he always credited his happy life, and his two daughters, Beth Pasmantier, an advertising copywriter, and Jean Del Colliano, a practicing attorney. He always contended that he was very lucky to have had two fine sons-in-law, James Pasmantier and Robert Schriver, and he adored and enjoyed the time he spent with his four granddaughters, Quinn, Avery, Casey, and Tess.
