Arthur F. Keys

Arthur (Artie) Keys, 92, a life-long Ramsey, NJ resident, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, January 1, 2024, after a life dedicated to his family and community.

He is survived by Marie, his loving wife of 69 years and their six children Anne (Peter), Arthur, William (Renee), Joseph (Susan), Richard (Theresa) and Patrick (Rachell), thirteen grandchildren and one great granddaughter, all of whom he truly treasured.

Artie was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and was predeceased by his parents Margaret and Arthur Keys, and sister, Margaret Munson. He retired from the NY Telephone Company after 30+ years and extended his general contracting business to full-time.

He had many talents and enjoyed many hobbies, with wood carving being a favorite. In addition to being a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Artie shared his time and talents with many local organizations and developed many friendships: Boy Scout Troup 31 scout master, active lifelong parishioner at St. Paul’s Church, helping the blind as a member of the Saddle River Valley Lions Club, Camp Marcella, Ramsey Senior Center and K of C.  He was proud of over 75 years being a volunteer firefighter, especially being a life member of the Ramsey Fire Department which was like his second family.

Visitation will be held at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 2-6 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul’s R.C. Church, 193 Wyckoff Ave, Ramsey, NJ on Monday morning, January 8, 2024 at 10 AM, with burial following at Maryrest Cemetery 770 Darlington Ave., Mahwah, NJ.
