Carol Dohrmann Obituary

SUCCASUNNA, NJ - Mary Carol Dohrmann passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on January 29, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born on February 19, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Francis and Della McMahon.

Carol, proudly Brooklyn-born, graduated from St. Brendan’s High School and was a longtime resident of Succasunna, NJ.  Carol held various jobs throughout her life but her favorite role was that of a mother and grandmother. She found joy in doting on her grandchildren and making cherished memories with them. In addition to her family, Carol was also a dedicated long-time volunteer for the Roxbury Township PTA.

Carol radiated an enthusiasm for life that endeared her to many. She was known for her love of laughter, music, storytelling, and a good drink. She was incredibly devoted to her family and immensely proud of her grandchildren. Carol’s loved ones could always count on her to be in their corner, unconditionally cheering us on while buying us all the funky gadgets and trinkets one could imagine.

An avid gardener and part-time naturalist, Carol found solace in her backyard and her pool. She was particularly passionate about growing tomatoes and took great pride in her garden. She was a member of the Roxbury Roamers Camping Group, indulging her love for the outdoors and the friends she made.  She also had an undying appreciation for the performing arts and cinema, which she passed on to her family and friends.

Carol is survived by her husband, C. George Dohrmann, her daughters Laura Dohrmann and Gigi Vaccaro and her husband Mark, her granddaughter Maggie, her daughter Jenna Dohrmann, her son Terry Dohrmann, his wife Tracy (née Polizzi), her grandchildren Mia, Abby, Grace, William and Riley.  She is also survived by siblings, sister Patricia Cahill, brother Dennis McMahon, and sister Ellen Sasso. She was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, and beloved grand-pets. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Della McMahon, and her brother, Francis Jr.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, located at 109 Darlington Avenue in Ramsey, NJ, on Sunday, February 4th, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM during the visitation.
