With her family by her side, Catherine McGill (nee Perillo) passed away peacefully at her home in Ridgewood NJ at the age of 98.
Catherine was born in Paterson, NJ to the late Louis and Mary (Mendillo) Perillo. She was a dear sister to the late Joseph, Alice, Helen and Louis.
Affectionately known as "Garren" to her family and friends, she was a cherished fixture of the Ridgewood community, having worked at the Mandee Shop in town for over 25 years, honing her flair for fashion. She met and married Robert McGill in 1950, eventually moving to Ridgewood where they spent the next 70 years in the same beloved home raising their family.
A devout Catholic, Catherine was unwavering in her faith and a longtime, dedicated parishioner at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church. Her life was deeply rooted in her beliefs, providing a foundation of love and grace for her family. In addition, Catherine found great joy in the kitchen, where she loved to cook and bake for those she held dear. She cherished family vacations at the Jersey Shore and was a lifelong New York Giant fan, having attended games with her husband and friends for many years.
Catherine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert E. McGill, eldest son Raymond McGill (Carol) of Ramsey, daughter Linda Guthrie (Robin) of Norwood, and son Robert McGill (Huguette) of Wanaque.
She is survived by her son Timothy McGill and his wife Tina of Ramsey, NJ and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was the proud grandmother of Lindsay Vanderbeek (Brian), the late Staff Sergeant Timothy McGill, Megan West (Logan), Ryan Guthrie (Bridget), Keith Guthrie (Julia), Jessica Rickert (Jake), Jenny McGill and Joel McGill.
Her 15 great-grandchildren; Savanna, Presley, Timothy and Monroe Vanderbeek; Charlotte, Leannain and Nash West, Cole and Audrey Guthrie, Vivian, Jude and Mary Guthrie, Emitt and Autumn Rickert and Jackson McGill were her great source of pride and adoration.
Her long life was a testament to her enduring strength and devotion to her family. She leaves behind a rich legacy of love, faith, and beautiful memories in the community she called home for seven decades.
