Catherine Ann (Giordano) Menninger

Catherine Ann Menninger (nee Giordano) of Western Springs, IL passed away October 11, 2021. She was 91 years old. Born in New York City, Catherine was raised in the Italian
section of the Bronx. She was a resident of Western Springs, IL for over 50 years. Catherine is survived by her 5 children: Chris Menninger of Arizona, Cathy and Bill Kokontis of Illinois, Carl Menninger and Mike Schwartz of Washington DC, Carolyn and Tom Tucci of New Jersey, and Lisa Menninger of Utah, and her 7 grandchildren—Kate Kokontis and Scott Eustis, Meg Kokontis and Nick Niles, Tyler and Kristina Tucci, Alex Lyons, Sara and Patrick Murray, TJ and AnnaGrace Menninger and great granddaughters Thalia and Ellie. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Margherita and brothers Vito, Frank, Tom and sister Vita. Catherine was a founding member and Executive Director of the Community Extension Project- an organization dedicated to assisting young people. She developed children’s enrichment programs and peer counseling programs for a diverse group of youth. Catherine opened
her home to more than 100 foster teens over the years. Her contributions were recognized by the United Way Voluntary Action Award for Outstanding Achievement, the
Western Springs Citizen of the Year Award and the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year Award. In 1995, CEP established the Catherine Menninger
Scholarship. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 2pm at the Alexian Chapel at Nazareth Academy, 1515 W. Ogden Ave (East Entrance), La Grange Park, IL. 60526.
