Charles W. Schucht

Charles “Chuck” Schucht 75 of Ramsey, NJ passed away May 12, 2024.

Charles is predeceased by his parents Walter and Helen Schucht, formerly of Ramsey, NJ and Deltona, FL. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cindy (Coles) Schucht of Ramsey, NJ, his son Chris from Tuxedo Park NY (formerly of Ramsey), and his wife Kristen, along with their son Connor who always referred to him as “Crandpa,” his daughter Allison of Ramsey, NJ and their family dog “Zoe.”  He also leaves behind his sister Lynn, her husband Gary Mapes of Palm Coast, FL, and two nephews, Jonathan of Palm Coast, FL and Zachary of Walton, NY. Chuck had a love for motorcycles. He was a member of the Bergen County Harley Davidson Owners Group of Rochelle Park, NJ for several years, where he spent lots of time riding with family and friends. If he wasn’t riding his bike, you would find him in the outdoors hunting or fishing with family and friends up and down the east coast.

He was employed at Verizon for 48 years. When he retired, he found a new passion serving the community he lived in for all of his life.

He joined the Ramsey Volunteer Ambulance Corps. in 2017, to help others in need. During his time with RVAC, Chuck earned many prestigious awards, including President's awards, Top Rider Awards, Volunteer of the Year and K of C Shield Award, Shurko Awards, and most recently was a recipient of the Steve Ahlstedt First Response Award, just to name a few. Chuck also served with the Corps. as Head Trustee, Corresponding Secretary, Driver Trainer, and Head Engineer. His presence has left a profound footprint within the Corps. and has given us a higher standard to fulfill. He was not only a member; he was a gentleman, good friend and mentor. He will be remembered, loved, and missed by many.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 PM - 8 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Avenue, Ramsey. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Redeemer Cemetery in Mahwah.
