Christine Rachel Borruso, 83, of Marco Island, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on September 11, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, to Madeline and William Castellano, Christine built a life defined by devotion to family and simple joys that brought people together. She was the beloved wife of Patrick Borruso, whom she first met in middle school. What began as a young friendship grew into a lasting love story, and they were married on August 8, 1964. Together they shared a marriage filled with love, laughter, and decades of treasured memories.
Christine was a loving mother to Deborah and Joseph, and a proud and devoted grandmother to Christopher, Patrick, Nicholas, and Charlotte. She was also blessed with a son-in-law, Frank, and a daughter-in-law, Rosalie, whom she loved as her own. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and nothing brought her greater happiness than being with them and celebrating their lives.
She found joy in the things that made a house feel like a home and life feel full. Christine loved knitting, arts and crafts, cooking (known for her famous cheesecake and Christmas cookies) and all the creativity and comfort they brought. Christine also relished a fierce game at scrabble, and in her younger years, loved shooting craps in Atlantic City. While she cherished her home on Marco Island, she enjoyed vacationing and spending time with family and friends in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Christine was the family’s steady source of strength, always there with wisdom and support. No matter where she was, she had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for.
Christine will be remembered by her friends and family for her kindness and generosity. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Ann Stella and Roberta LaSala, and her brother-in-law, Peter Stella.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 62 years, Patrick; her loving children, Deborah (Frank) and Joseph (Rosalie); her cherished grandchildren Christopher, Patrick, Nicholas and Charlotte; and many relatives and friends whose lives were better because of her presence.
Her life was a gift to her family, and her memory will remain a blessing always.
