Cormack "Bob" Flynn

Cormack (Bob) Flynn, 84, passed away on July 31, 2022 following a very brief but courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

He leaves behind his dear wife of 59 years, Patricia Devine Flynn (Brett); his son, Kenneth Flynn; his daughter, Kerry Flynn and her husband Chris Andrew; his grandsons Everett and Cormack Andrew; his three sisters Margaret Bretthauer, Agnes Gandolfo and Patsy Cahill and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and other close family and friends. He is preceded in death by his brothers, John and Thomas Flynn.

Cormack was raised in the Bronx, NY and was the son of John James and Kate Ellen Flynn of County Leitrim, Ireland. He attended Hunter College where he played basketball and graduated in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in Chemistry.  

Cormack served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1959-1965. He and his wife, Patricia were married in 1963 and lived in Ramsey, NJ.  

Cormack was a noteworthy flavor chemist and spent most of his career at Givaudan Corporation in Clifton, NJ. He had a passion for chemistry, had several flavor patents issued in his name and was a member of the Flavor Chemists Society and the Institute of Food Technologists.

The simple pleasures in life brought great joy to Cormack: skiing at Campgaw Mountain and in Vermont; playing and watching tennis; hiking at Ramapo Reservation with his daughter; boating on Lake Norman, NC with his son; spending time with his grandchildren; and dancing the night away with his wife who he loved so dearly. He was a true character and will be fondly remembered as the life of the party: drinking wine, cracking jokes and keeping everyone entertained until the wee hours of the morning. The joy and laughter that he brought to his family and friends will live on forever.    

A memorial service will be held at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Avenue, Ramsey, NJ on August 12, 2022 from 4-8 PM

A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 200 Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey, NJ on August 13, 2022 at 11 AM
