Daniel Dall' Ava Obituary

Daniel Dall’Ava, on Sunday, December 17, 2023, of Pompton Plains, NJ, and former long-time resident of Upper Saddle River, NJ, loving father of three, passed away at 99. On November 27, 1924, Daniel was born in Clifton NJ, to Ulderico and Ida Dall’Ava (née Marchetto).

On June 10, 1950, Daniel married Doris Dall’Ava (née Barnes). Daniel and Doris remained married for over 70 years, with their journey together beginning over a mutual love of roller skating. Before marriage, Daniel was a machinist apprentice for multiple years, followed by serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from October 22, 1943, to July 18, 1946, achieving the rank of Corporal as an aviation mechanic. After serving, Daniel owned Allied Plastic Mold Inc. in Saddle Brook, NJ, for over 40 years until his retirement in 1993. In 1953, Daniel and Doris welcomed the birth of their first daughter, Debra. The Dall'Ava family grew larger with the births of daughters Nancy and Lisa. Daniel enjoyed competing in roller skating competitions with Doris and his hobbies of skiing, water skiing, fishing, and boating. A passion of Daniel’s was going on vacation with family, including ski trips to Europe, skiing at Hunter Mountain, and later Windham Mountain, along with summer trips to Lake George, NY. A firm believer in charity, Daniel donated for decades to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN, and Shriners Hospitals for Children in Tampa, FL. Throughout his adult life, Daniel was a Shriner and a member of the American Legion.

Daniel was preceded by his parents, Ulderico and Ida Dall'Ava, brother Gilbert Dall’Ava, and late wife Doris. He is survived by his three daughters, Debra Post, Nancy Duffy, and Lisa DiGiacomo, grandchildren Danielle, Jennifer, James, Christopher, and Connor, and great-grandchildren Mason, Abagail, Maeve, and Lilyanna.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, https://www.stjude.org or Shriners Hospitals for Children in Tampa, FL.
