David G. Bassing

David George Bassing, of Mahwah, New Jersey, departed this world on the evening of August 12th, 2024 at the age of 70, following a prolonged battle with Leukemia. Born on the 25th of March, 1954, to loving parents George and Alice Bassing. David is predeceased by his parents, as well as his loving wife Lauré Bassing. David is survived by his sister Susan Bassing, brother-in-law Edward, his wife Patty, and their children; Cory, Mackenzie, Morgan, and Christopher Madonna, his brother-in-law William and wife Paula and their son Ryan Madonna. 

Dave is also survived by his beloved son Nicholas Bassing, his fiancé Kelly Peterson, and Nicholas’ step-son Fox Heller. 

David brought joy and laughter wherever he went. He married his partner in crime, Lauré, 40 years ago and together they raised their son Nicholas. Following Lauré’s passing in 2018, David was happiest when spending time with his son Nick, Nick’s fiancé Kelly, their son Fox and his incredible neighbors, friends, and family. He will be forever missed by those closest to him for his boisterous sense of humor and generosity.

David spent the years prior to his retirement working as the President and CEO of his painting business DBP, Inc., where many of his numerous clients became his life-long friends. David was passionate about his friends, family, neighbors, and business, as well as his pastimes camping, fishing, and cheering on his beloved NY Rangers and Yankees. Although he will be deeply and forever missed, we take comfort in knowing that he can now finally feel at peace, and is watching over us all.

David’s family will not be holding open services, but will instead be hosting an intimate Celebration of Life for close family and friends at a date yet to be determined.

The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to David’s favorite charity: Tunnel to Towers Foundation and/or to the Mahwah, NJ Police Department, and Mahwah, NJ Fire Rescue and EMS Dept.
