David H. Erickson

David H Erickson, 79, of Mahwah, NJ (formerly of Orange, NJ) passed away surrounded by his wife (Maria R Erickson) and daughter (Karen M Erickson Wotring).  Born in Orange, NJ he is the oldest of 3 children born to George Hugh Erickson and Salome Celestia Brennesholtz.  After graduating from Mahwah High School in 1962, he enrolled at Bucknell University to complete a bachelor’s degree in Finance.  After completing his 4 year college degree, he worked for Touche Ross Accounting and Haskins and Sells Accounting Firms.  He chose to enter the Air Force to become a pilot after his auditing experiences with the accounting firms.  His air force career lasted 6 years, as he remained stateside.  After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, he went back into the banking field along with working on computer financing.  He is predeceased by his parents and is survived by his two sisters, Nancy S. Erickson and Alice Erickson.  Together, with his wife of 47 years, they raised two children, Christina Anne Erickson and Karen Marie, in Mahwah.  He is also survived by three grandchildren, Stella, Hugh and Francesca Wotring.  David loved his nieces, Lisa Burgess, Lynda Konash, Laura Erickson-Schroth and Tania Erickson-Grant and nephew, Patrick Burgess.  He will be missed dearly by his son-in-law, Robert Wotring, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Gil Burgess, his best friend, Curt Woodruff, as well as many other friends and extended family.  His love for birds, irish setters and Yankees baseball filled his days after his retirement from Miele Auto Parts in Pearl River, where he was an accountant.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 2 - 5 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ 07446.
