The third son of the late James W. and Elizabeth Murray, David passed away suddenly after a brief illness... leaving an unbearable loss within his family.
Dave grew up in a modest, 2-story corner house in Bergenfield, NJ, surrounded by his loving family of 7 downstairs, and his cousins’ family of 6 upstairs. Needless to say, through all the mayhem he enjoyed a very ordinary childhood we all shared growing up in the 60s. Along with his brothers, he spent many of his early teens as a Boy Scout – fueling his love for camping and fostering his outdoor vibe.
He was an excellent student during his high school years, and was senior class president in 1976. He would later graduate from NJIT with a degree in engineering – then off to conquer the world!
Dave spent most of his working career as a computer expert at DHL… frequently traveling up and down the Eastern seaboard. Dave was often tapped to spearhead highly technical emergency situations only he could solve. His dedication to his work, and ‘a never give up’ attitude, earned him the prestigious Employee of the Year Award in 2011.
In his downtime, David could often be found outdoors, content just being within nature... hiking in the woods or tending to his beloved, colorful garden irises. With his infectious laugh, he enjoyed completing and sharing his daily morning puzzles – and always looked forward to our family’s weekly zoom calls. An avid coin collector, he was always searching for that missing piece to complete one of his sets. And Dave was always eager to try something new, most recently plinking out chords on his brothers handmade ‘coco-lele’! He also took great pleasure in house-sitting his brother’s dog Reilly... and so loved the companionship they both shared...
But ultimately and always – he felt most at ease, and at home in the company of his very close-knit Irish family.
