Dennis Robert Kaufman, 74, passed away on May 29, 2023, in his home in Ramsey, NJ, after battling prostate cancer.
Dennis was born in the Bronx, NY, to Anna and Charles Kaufman. He grew up in White Meadow Lakes, NJ, with his sisters Evelyn, Adele, Laura, and Lisa. As a child, he enjoyed spending time in his father's candy store; as a teen, he ran track, played tennis and studied chess. In 1970, Dennis earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Villanova University, which set him on a path to a long career in Information Technology.
In his early 20's, Dennis met his wife, Fernanda. They married in Garfield, NJ in 1973, and had four children, Andrea, Christina, Jeremiah, and Victoria. As a family, they enjoyed taking road trips and spending time at the beach. In later years, Dennis and Fernanda enjoyed traveling, summer trips to the Jersey shore, outdoor concerts, visiting Paterson Falls and West Point, and touring historic mansions and museums.
Dennis was a man of faith, and his love of Jesus was foundational to his life and legacy. He was active in church leadership, supported missions, and was passionate about reading his bible and evangelism. Dennis cared deeply about non-profit organizations like Chosen People Ministries and the Walter Hoving Home. He also volunteered for many years at the Newbridge Hospital detox unit and the New Jersey Coalition against Human Trafficking.
Dennis loved music, art, and writing. Later in life, Dennis nurtured his love for film and pursued screenwriting. He wrote several screenplays and scripts and pursued short film production, working in partnership with his son.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
Dennis is survived by his wife Fernanda, their children Andrea Gaines, Christina Kaufman Price, Jeremiah Kaufman, and Victoria Kaufman-Grubner, and their spouses. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ben, Elizabeth, Wivens, Juliana, Katherine, Alexander, and Alma.
