Dorothy May (Meehen) Mintz

Dorothy May Mintz, 84, of Allendale, NJ, died Saturday, June 4, 2022.  Born October 22, 1937 to Viola and William Meehen of Oil City, PA.  Mrs. Mintz was married in St. Joseph's Church, Oil City, on June 13, 1959 to E Forest Mintz. She graduated from the St. Vincent's School of Nursing in Erie, PA in 1958 and went on to get her RN degree in nursing education from Boston University while working at Massachusetts General Hospital.  Later she became a registered nurse in both Pennsylvania and Louisiana and worked for many years at the Algiers General Clinic in New Orleans and also did private duty care. Mrs. Mintz and her husband had many adventures as they traveled extensively all over the world. They also enjoyed long vacations in Hawaii. Mrs. Mintz participated in many activities during her long residence in Allendale. She was a very active member of several quilt clubs and loved collecting fabrics, taking classes and going to quilt shows. She was also a founding member of the Ramsey Women's Investment Club and a member for 20 years. She loved growing flowers in her yard and attended the Philadelphia Flower show for years. She volunteered at Kurth Cottage and participated in the Women's Health Initiative. She was also a past president of the Ridgewood Nurses Club. She is survived by her 3 children and 2 grandchildren: Thomas, of Christiansburg, VA, Pepper, of Dallas, TX and Michael and grandchildren, Alan and Brian, of Harvard, MA. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 1 PM at St. Paul R.C. Church in Ramsey followed by a private cremation.
