Edward Rapp Obituary

Edward Alexander "Breezy" Rapp passed away on February 20, 2025, in Paramus, New Jersey, after a brief illness.

Born and raised in multiple states, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and California, Ed eventually made Mahwah, New Jersey, his home—a place he cherished deeply. He graduated from Suffern High School in 1960 before enlisting in the U.S. Army. After completing basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he served in Hawaii, where he gained technical skills that led to a lifelong career with the telephone company.

For over 40 years, Ed worked as a systems technician repairman for New Jersey Bell/Bell Atlantic/Verizon. His career took him to various locations, including Bergenfield, Midland Park, Ramsey, and Fort Lee, where he built lasting friendships with colleagues.

An avid outdoorsman, Ed found joy in fishing and hunting, often spending weekends on his bass boat or exploring new hunting grounds with his sons. He was an active member of the Bergen Bowmen Archery Club and the Hudson River Fishermen's Association. His dedication to his community extended beyond his hobbies—he served as a volunteer firefighter with Company #2 Fire Department in Mahwah and also mentored young athletes as a Little League coach and Scoutmaster for the Cub and Boy Scouts.

Above all else, Ed treasured time with his grandchildren. Whether attending dance recitals, baseball games, theater productions or playing lifeguard at the pool during summer afternoons, "Pa" was always present in their lives. In his later years, he enjoyed watching Yankees games alongside his wife Molly and their beloved dogs (Jenny, Kelly, and Blake.)

Ed is survived by his wife of 57 years, Molly; sons Chuck, Dan, and Jim; daughter-in-law Carrie; and grandchildren Rhiannon, Luke, Alexa, Michael, and Emily; Ed also leaves behind his loyal dog and constant companion, Blake.

He was predeceased by his brother John Rapp, sister Violet Lacson, and brother-in-law Charles "Jug" Haight.
