Edward William Selis of Allendale passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023 at the age of 97. Ed was a loving father to Tricia Selis of Hawthorne, Julie Hurd and her husband David Hurd of Mahwah, Tia DeBon and her partner Dave Paparoski of Hillsdale; adoring grandfather to Kiera Tanner, Krystal Querner, Lauren Polunin, Alex Lutz, Eric DeBon and Bryan DeBon; and great-grandfather to Levi, Mackenzi, Wesley, Nathan, Nola and Indie. Ed was a World War II Veteran and received the Victory Medal when discharged. He was born in Hawthorne and later moved to Allendale with his wife Marilyn and family. Ed was a Mechanical Engineer and owned his own business. His clientele were some of the biggest brands, but he was best known for his work with Nabisco where he and his company redesigned and built the Oreo cookie bakery line. He was featured in Autumn Years Magazine, “Oreo Ed” a memoir of his life. He enjoyed summers at his family home in Lavallette, loved to paint and was an artist at the Ridgewood Art Institute. He enjoyed travel, gardening, fishing, friends and so much more, but most importantly, his greatest love was his family, his girls, and his wife and love, Marilyn. Ed was a generous, kind and loving man who easily connected with others. He was a truly honorable gentleman. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held privately for family.
