Obituary

Eha Magri, 83, died peacefully on July 19, 2022, formerly of Ramsey, NJ and Chester, NY. Beloved wife of the late Alfred J. Magri. Loving mother to Karen Faul and late husband David of Chester, NY and David Magri and wife Emily of Flanders, NJ. Cherished grandmother to Kevin, Brianna, Elise and Jessica. Dear sister of Aino DeJoseph (New York), Roland Gehrke (Germany), her siblings who passed before her, Allen (Australia), Hans (Australia), Endel and Ilmar. Also survived by numerous loving family and friends.

Eha was born in Estonia to Roland and Rosalie .  She a had an amazing journey over the years.  As a young girl, she along with her siblings, immigrated from Estonia to Germany along with her mother during World War II. This passage via foot, boat and train is one that built strength and courage within Eha that she shared with her family over the years.  When the opportunity to have the American dream arose by accompanying her older sister, Aino to New York City, Eha just a high school aged girl, she make the quick decision to go.  It was a long and hard journey via boat for the young girls.  They arrived in NYC and began their new lives.  Eha spent the first few years attending high school in NYC, whilst Aino began her career.

Eha met the love of her life, Alfred, in Queens, NY.  They married in 1965 and in 1973 moved their family to Ramsey, NJ.  When in their presence you felt the true love they held for each other.  She loved all of the family gatherings with the extended family and we will hold onto those memories.

Eha worked in the local bank in Ramsey and always enjoyed connecting with friends and neighbors within the community.  She volunteered as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader.  She was actively involved with the various ladies clubs, church groups and when she retired, she was an active participant in the local senior groups, including the Senior Club in Chester, NY.

This past year she resided at Mt. Arlington Senior Living in NJ, where she made many friends and became quickly known as a loving and kind women who always was social and welcoming.

Eha was dedicated to her family and her friends.  She was a strong woman who was always there for you.  Eha will be missed but her spirit will live on.
