H. Elaine Andrews (nee Lewandosky) a long time resident of Ramsey, NJ passed away peacefully, September 18, 2021.
She was born in Hackensack, NJ in 1931 to Helen Loveless and Edward Lewandosky and resided in Maywood until her marriage. She graduated from Bogota High School and attended Bergen Pines (now Bergen Regional Medical Center). She worked as a laboratory technician and was a supervisor at Harkness Pavilion Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, NY until 1962.
She married Robert W. Andrews in 1962 and moved to their home in Ramsey, NJ where she lived for 58 years. She was an active member of the Ramsey First Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting, bible studies, gardening, trips to Cape Cod and Christmas at her home. She loved her house on the hill and the beautiful gardens she created where barbecues, birthday parties and Easter egg hunts were often held. Her home became the gathering place where family reconnected.
Family was everything to Elaine. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and aunt. She is survived by her children: Elizabeth (William) Knittle of Wellfleet, MA; Ellen Jean (Jake) Soto of Warwick, NY; Amy Roberta (Michael) Alberse of Lewisville, TX; the late Stephen Robert (Aileen McGee) of London, UK; and nine beloved grandchildren: Sarah and Andrew Knittle, Emma, David, and Luke Soto, Megan (Ryan) Danker, John Alberse, Leon and August Andrews, and many adored and loved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brighton Gardens Saddle River for their loving care of Elaine this past year.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 23 from 5 - 8pm at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, September 24 at 10am at the funeral home and live streamed for those unable to attend. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Ramsey.
