Eleanor (Claudio) Buruchian

Eleanor Joan Buruchian passed peacefully on November 13, 2022 at 93 years old. Eleanor was born and grew up in Jersey City, NJ. Her parents were the late Dominic and Mary Claudio. Eleanor was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and partner. She is survived by her three children, Diane Broderick (Thomas), Carol Sbrocco (Scott) and Robert Buruchian, Jr. (Janet).

Eleanor was also blessed with six grandchildren: Brandon Broderick (Francesca), Ryan Broderick (Nathalia), Geena Sbrocco, Melissa Sbrocco, Alex Buruchian (Natalie) and Matthew Broderick, and four great-grandchildren; Aidan, Stella, Penelope and Everly.

Eleanor resided in Mahwah, NJ for over thirty years with her loving partner, Walter Lubicich. “Wally” who fondly called “granny” has always been there for her, and her family. Their love for each other was unmatched. They shared common joys; traveling, family gatherings, winters in Florida, and quiet time at their home in Mahwah, NJ.

Eleanor enjoyed life from an early age. During her teenage years in Jersey City, Eleanor was part of the “Frank Sinatra Frenzy”. Her children loved hearing stories of how she skipped school to see “Frankie” at the Paramount Theatre. Other favorite memories included hanging out in Belmar at the Jersey Shore, and dancing the night away to her favorite tunes.

At her 90th birthday surprise celebration, Eleanor and Wally once again danced to their favorite “Big Blue Eyes” songs surrounded by her loving family. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul RC Church, 200 Wyckoff Ave, Ramsey, NJ 07446.
