Elizabeth (Rice) Bradley, 92, of Ramsey NJ, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 10, 2024.
Elizabeth was born on December 21,1931, in New York City to James Valentine and Bridget (McDonagh) Rice. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Bradley; proud and loving mother of her children, Maureen and her husband Henry Flores, and James and his wife Brenda. She was the cherished grandmother of Alison Flores Mitten, Nicholas Bradley, Connor Bradley, Katie Flores Duval, Ryan Bradley, Caroline Flores, James Bradley, Emily Bradley, and Dylan Bradley; and delighted great-grandmother to Henry Alden Mitten. She was a beloved eldest sister to the late Anne Rice Squiccimarro and Margaret Dooley.
A proud alumna of St. Catherine’s Academy in the Bronx, Elizabeth became a licensed x-ray technician, a career she enjoyed for more than 50 years. Her commitment to the medical profession and taking care of others began at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington Heights, continued at the orthopedic practice of her dear friend Dr. David Tucker, and concluded at Radiology Associates of Ridgewood – her home away from home, working amongst some of her dearest friends in her later life.
Elizabeth met the love of her life, Harry Bradley, a Scotsman, at City Center in New York. They married in 1959 and continued a life of dancing, hard work, and hospitality for nearly forty years.
They loved square dancing, skiing, the Jersey Shore, travel, and trips to Massachusetts, Michigan, and Scotland to be with family. They enjoyed hosting dinner parties with their friends from St. Paul’s, and their annual New Year’s Day celebrations with the Henshaws and extended family are remembered with a smile.
She was Aunt Lizzie to her American nieces and nephews, Theresa, Maggie, Patsy, Dennis and Frankie, and loved their spouses, partners and her great nieces and nephews. Auntie Liz maintained a close relationship with the Bradley clan, including her brothers in law and their wives, nieces and nephews, Elspeth, Matthew, Billy, Karen, Mark and Kevin, and their families.
A nearly 60-year member of St. Paul’s Parish in Ramsey, NJ, Elizabeth was a woman of great faith and served on numerous parish ministries. She made friends through every chapter of her life and faithfully kept in touch with calls and letters, never forgetting a birthday or special anniversary.
She was thoughtful, generous, kind, organized, and interested in all that happened in her world and beyond. She cherished all the people in her life, whether they were new friends or relationships that dated back to her childhood. She will be remembered, loved, and missed by many.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 - 4 PM & 6 - 9 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Avenue, Ramsey. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 10 AM at St. Paul R.C. Church in Ramsey. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
