Elizabeth “Betty” Janosky (nee Gunn), 80, of Allendale, NJ, passed away, surrounded in love, on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2022. This was a befitting tribute because being a mother meant everything to her. She is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence “Larry” Janosky, children Amy McKenna (Tom) and Keith Janosky (Kate), six grandchildren Ashley and Conor McKenna, Avery, Mackenzie, Nolan and Declan Janosky, and siblings Tom Gunn, James Gunn and Anne Hosfeld.
Betty was born and raised in New York, NY and was predeceased by her father Hugh Gunn and her mother Marcella (nee Connolly). After graduating from Hunter College, she and Larry met while working together as perfumers at Givaudan and later married in 1970. Betty continued working in the industry at Norda before taking on her last role as Senior Buyer and Travel Coordinator at Capintec in Ramsey, NJ. Betty enjoyed a deep friendship with her work colleagues, many of whom became her best friends. Betty and Larry moved to Allendale, where in addition to her career and motherhood, she was an active member of the PTA, taught CCD and served as a volunteer around town.
Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events, birthdays and sacraments. Her favorite pastimes were attending plays and bowling. She enjoyed traveling to visit her cousins in Ireland and vacations with her family and husband to Cape May, Cape Cod and Maine. Betty was charitable, compassionate, caring and always put the needs of others first. She touched the lives of everyone she met and she will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-5 PM & 7-9 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 10 AM at St. Paul RC Church in Ramsey. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.
