Evelyn (Hallock) Sutherland

Evelyn Sutherland (nee Hallock) was born in Paterson, New Jersey on July 20, 1926 and passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 30, 2023. Evelyn is predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years George R. Sutherland, her parents Joseph and Sophie Hallock, brother Tony; sisters Anna, and Jennie, she is survived by her sister Elizabeth Treglia. Evelyn was a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother affectionately known as Grandma Eve. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She was very social and loved family gatherings. She loved her to trips to Atlantic City with her sisters Liz, Anna and Jennie and her dear friend Mary Nardella. She enjoyed Friday night card games with her sisters for many years and later enjoyed her games of rummy with her daughters, son-in-law and grandchildren. Sunday dinner with her family was also a staple she loved.

Evelyn was a wonderful, loving mother to her two daughters, Cheryl Sutherland of Thomasville, NC and Kathy Nardella and her son-in-law George Nardella of Wyckoff, NJ. Evelyn was a pillar of strength and security for her family. She was blessed with three wonderful grandchildren who she adored. Eric Smielewski of Thomasville, NC, Anthony Nardella, and his wife Tanya of Brooklyn, NY and Taylor Nardella of Hoboken, NJ.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 11 AM - 2 PM with a service being conducted at 1:30 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ.
