Rev. Kenneth J. St. Amand, a Newark native, was born on April 28, 1943 and passed away on April 6, 2022. Beloved son of the late William St. Amand and Josephine (nee Kiernan). Loving brother of the late David St. Amand of California and the late Detective Donald St. Amand of Union, NJ. Cherished uncle of 2 nephews and 1 niece of California. Also survived by longtime dear friend Juan Molina. After studying at the Immaculate Conception Seminary in Darlington/Mahwah, NJ he was ordained as a Roman Catholic Priest for the Archdiocese of Newark by Archbishop Thomas A. Boland on May 31, 1969. He was a Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Park Ridge, a member of the Archdiocesan Clergy Personnel Board, Spiritual Director of the College Seminary of the Immaculate Conception at St. Andrew’s Hall in Seton Hall University. He retired on December 1, 2004 and took up a residence at St. Mary’s Parish in Plainfield. Later due to ill health he became a resident at Allendale Senior Living in Allendale since June 1, 2009.
Viewing will be at the Guardian Angel RC Church, 320 Franklin Turnpike, Allendale, NJ on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am presided by Fr. Kenneth St. Amand’s classmate Bishop John W. Flesey. The burial will be at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.
