Frances P. Capua (née Amarino), of Allendale, N.J., formerly of Bayside, N.Y., passed away on Palm Sunday, March 28, 2021, her 90th birthday. She was predeceased by Alfred, her loving husband of 54 years. Devoted mother of Debra Capua (Alan) of Allendale and Christine Bennewitz (Thomas) of Mahwah. Proud grandmother of Samantha, Thomas, Christian and Hannah Bennewitz. Beloved daughter of the late Isabel and Joseph Amarino, who named her Frances Palma to honor her birth on Palm Sunday weekend in 1931. She was also aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews. Frances retired from St. John’s University, Jamaica, N.Y., in 1993 after 17 years of service. Before her daughters were born, she worked for American Airlines in Queens, N.Y. Arrangements are being handled by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave., Ramsey, N.J.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 5 at 10 AM at the Church of the Guardian Angel, 320 Franklin Turnpike, Allendale, N.J. 07401. A private interment with immediate family will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, N.Y. The family is grateful to the staff at the Allendale Nursing Home for taking such good care of Mom, keeping her safe during the pandemic and treating her with loving kindness during her final days. They came to know her well and were there for her when her family could not visit. We also appreciate Mom’s team from Compassionate Care hospice who truly live up to the name of their organization.
