Francis A. Gilligan, 91, formerly of West Milford, NJ entered eternal life on May 25, 2023 and was reunited with his wife Josephine. Francis was the loving father to his daughter, Kathleen Latz and sons and daughter-in-laws; Kevin, Donna, Brian & Laura. He is predeceased by his son-in-law Scott Latz. He was the adored grandpa of Austin, Kevin, Erin, Mackenzie, Jack & Catherine. Francis was a graduate of Fordham University and was in the ROTC. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army. He later enrolled in Fordham University Law School and obtained a J.D. degree. Francis was called back to active duty due to the Berlin Wall Crisis in Germany. He continued in the Army Reserve as Captain, Judge Advocate General’s Corps for eight years and was honorably discharged. Francis spent 27 years with Chase Manhattan Bank beginning as Staff Counsel and moving from Legal to Real Estate Finance which included Vice President and Division Executive in charge of developing Real Estate in European Countries. After retiring from Chase, he joined Bayerishce Verinsbank, a Munich based bank to develop real estate programs in the United States. Upon retiring, Francis enjoyed his NY Giant season football tickets with his sons and grandsons. He was a devoted grandpa attending his grandchildren’s school and sporting events. He also kept busy with being the President of the Bald Eagle Townhome Association where he and Josephine lived.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 9:15 AM - 9:45 AM at St. Paul R.C. Church, 200 Wyckoff Ave, Ramsey, NJ followed by a funeral mass at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Ave, Mahwah, NJ.
