Fred H. Wenz

Beloved husband, father and grandfather Fred H. Wenz joined his wife Elizabeth in Heaven on February 5, 2023. Fred is survived by his three granddaughters Jessica, Kristen and Samantha, his daughter-in-law Lisa and son Steven.

Fred lived and raised his family in Middle Village. NY, however split his childhood years between a small northern village in Germany and Brooklyn, NY.

Fred enlisted in the US Army Airborne Division in post WWII Germany and rose to the rank of Sergeant. Since he was fluent in the language, he was assigned to identify and interpret captured documents. While stationed in Europe, he traveled to all the major cities and took many pictures of his travels.

He met his wife, Elizabeth, on a blind date and they married in 1964. He was an avid reader of history and espionage novels, the National Geographic magazine and the daily NY newspapers. He never missed watching the evening world news after dinner and rarely missed his mid afternoon coffee and cake break.

During his retirement, he became a studious stock market, weather and news watcher. He loved playing with his grand-daughters when they were small and then hearing about their adventures as they became young adults. He would always ask “how are the girls doing?”.

We love and we will miss you Dad and Grandpa
