Gennaro Michael Del Gatto, lovingly known to family and friends as Gerry, unexpectedly passed away on December 22, 2021 at the age of 81.
Gerry was born in Brooklyn, NY to Ercole and Anna Del Gatto. He is survived by his wife: Anna, his children: Anna Maria Pochatko, JoAnn DelGatto, Kristine Nooney and Jerry Del Gatto, as well as his sister: Michele Shephard of Murfreesboro, TN and six grandchildren. As a child, he loved spending his time with his cousins Salvatore, John and Leatrice Ferraioli, Joseph and Annamarie Pepe and Joseph Cafra. Gerry attended the High School of Art and Design in NYC and later opened his own advertising agency. He worked in the field of graphic design and production for his entire career until he retired at the age of 70.
Gerry met Anna at a social club in Brooklyn and it was love at first dance. They married after a short time and started their family. Gerry loved family and especially loved being surrounded by his grandchildren, Anna (17), Christian (14), Steven (14), Alessandro (14), Matteo (11) and Ariana (11). Gerry and Anna celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in November and cherished celebrating holidays and milestones with their immediate and extended families. Gerry enjoyed spending time at their home in Mastic Beach, NY and crabbing with his children and grandchildren. He loved to shop, cook and prepare gourmet meals for his wife and family. Spending time together with those he loved brought Gerry great joy. He will be missed tremendously but has left those around him with many precious memories and traditions.
A celebration of life mass will be held at the Church of the Guardian Angel in Allendale, NJ on December 30, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. There will be visitation at the same location beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Redeemer Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ immediately following the funeral services
