March 2, 1962 – February 24, 2025

Heidi Mech, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Ramsey, NJ, on February 24, 2025, just days before her 63rd birthday.

Born in Ridgewood, NJ, Heidi was a woman of sharp wit, boundless generosity, and an unwavering love for animals. She dedicated much of her life to their care, running a dog grooming business for many years and sharing her home and heart with countless beloved pets, including Lucky, Hogan, Bingo, Sparky, and Willow.

Heidi’s greatest pride and joy was her son, Christopher Tashik. She was his biggest supporter, cheering him on in his bowling career during his youth and later celebrating his accomplishments as a skilled electrician, devoted husband, and loving father. She cherished her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Tashik, and found immense joy in her grandchildren, Owen (8) and Emily (6).

Heidi was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 20 years, Dan Mech, who passed away two years prior. She is survived by her loving siblings, Phillip DeVries, Larry DeVries, Connie DeVries, and Jill Goldberg, as well as her 11 nieces and nephews, with whom she shared countless cherished memories. Heidi’s warmth, humor, and generosity touched the lives of many, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Heidi’s life will be held with her immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to a local animal rescue organization, a fitting tribute to her lifelong passion for caring for animals.
