Helen Louise Jicha, 96, of Ramsey, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2022. She will be joining her late spouse Thomas, who died in 1988, in the afterlife. A native of New York City, she moved to New Jersey in 1996 to be closer to the family. She never lost her New York state of mind and loved to make visits to "downtown."
She is the beloved mother of Thomas Jicha (spouse Patricia), Gregory Jicha (spouse Patricia) and Leslie Gail Bishop (spouse John). Other survivors include grandchildren Thomas Jicha III, Kathy Donnelly, Christopher Jicha (spouse Victoria), Keith Jicha, Corinne Jicha Castellano (spouse Michael), Hayley Bishop, Lindsay Bishop, and Jenna Bishop as well as great grandsons Thomas Jicha IV and Mason Jicha.
After the death of her loving spouse, "Nana" devoted herself to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They enjoyed spending time with her, chit-chatting about their fondness for the New York Mets. She closely followed every game on her radio and loved to talk about the high and low points of the game until her very last day.
Nana and the family also shared many other interests, including spending a day at the beach or at the horse races. She made sure the entire family found a way to get together each summer in Long Beach Island and upstate in Saratoga, making small bets (she became quite adept at picking winners).
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 9 a.m. at St. Paul RC Church, 200 Wyckoff Ave, Ramsey, NJ. Interment will follow at Calverton, National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Helen Jicha's honor to The American Macular Degeneration Foundation at https://www.macular.org.
