Ines Peterson Obituary

Ines C. Peterson (nee Colella), 72, of Ramsey, NJ passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, peacefully without any pain after fighting an aggressive brain cancer, glioblastoma with her husband, John F. Peterson, Jr. by her side. Ines, known by all as E' (and I would nickname her, "Tiny"), was born in Manhattan on January 2nd of 1950. The Colella family moved to Teaneck, NJ in 1952. Ines lived there up to 1976. While living in Teaneck, she went to the Catholic grade school and then to the public Teaneck High School, graduating in 1967. Ines graduated in 1971 from Wagner University, located in Staten Island, majoring in finance. She worked at various banks located in Manhattan up to the late 80's. In 1988, Ines left the banking field and moved to Ramsey. Ines started working in 1988 at the Upper Saddle River Police Department, as the Records Clerk and in addition, Ines became the secretary for Police Chief Patrick Rotella. Ines was planning on retiring this year. The embryo that started this very cherished marriage, was when I visited her brother, Tony, who just became a proud father, having a son, Victor. Ines was there too. We started talking and found we had something in common, food! Ines thought no one out here would love sushi, like she does. Ines invited me out to a Japanese restaurant, which was our first date and not our last. We still felt we were dating, not a 32 year married couple. We loved going together to Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Italian, Polish, Ukrainian, South American grocery stores and restaurants. Our other love, was travel. We were at the 1,000 year anniversary of the Viking's founding Newfoundland, number of times to Newport, Rhode Island, Cape Cod, Boston area, Maine and New Hampshire, where John's ancestors go back to 1700's. With the Ferrari Club, went to many national events along the whole east coast. With John's father's WWII unit, 366th Fighter Association, we have been to Charleston, Savannah, Dayton, Ohio and a number of other places. In addition, we have been a number of times up to Montreal for the Formula 1 races. We have been elephant riding in Thailand, visiting the Golden Triangle, ancient Kyoto, sights around Tokyo, New Orleans and the backwoods of the Cajun country, San Antonio area, like Frederickburg, El Paso area,Carlsbad Caverns, Gila Cliff Dwellers north of Silver City, White Sands, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Phoenix area, San Diego area, Orange county area, L.A. area, Queen Mary, etc., Pebble Beach, Carmel, San Francisco, Red Woods, Muskegon,MI, Detroit area to name a few.  And we enjoyed the exotic foods at all of the places we visited.  Ines's parents predeceased her: Her mother, Ines in 1994 and her father, Victor in 1999. She is survived by her older brother, Tony (Anthony), his wife, Patty, son, Victor and daughter Patricia. For both John and Ines, no children from both of their 2 marriages. John is the sole survivor of the Peterson family. 'E' had a much larger presence than her "Tiny" form. Whenever you saw Ines, she presented a charm that delighted us all. Her smile.. her laugh.. her wit.. Yes, that Hollywood award winning smile that won us all over! In fact, my Ramsey High School class of '66, made her an "honorary" classmate, which she never got this "love" from her own high school. Tiny will be missed, but her spirit will never leave us. Many of our friends have stated, even before Ines passed away, "that we were meant for each other".

Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home of Ramsey, NJ will be handling Ines's funeral. Ines will be cremated. Therefore, no viewing. Thus, there will be only a graveside service at Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Ave, Mahwah, NJ on Friday May 13th, at 11:30 AM.
