James Austin Callaghan

James Austin Callaghan, 89, on August 23, 2025 of Upper Saddle River, NJ. Beloved and devoted husband of 67 years to his high school sweetheart Eleanor Callaghan. Loving father of Kathleen A. Callaghan, Mary Jane Callaghan, Patricia E. Calderone and husband Michael, Elizabeth A. Jennee and husband Robert, James Patrick Callaghan and wife Amena, Margaret E. Callaghan and Susan A. Carlson and husband Russell. Cherished grandfather of Gavin, Michael, Austin, Ryan, Jason, Patricia, Alexandra, Erin, Kaitlyn and Jack. Adored great grandfather of Mary Brooks and Michael. Dear brother of Maureen McCormick and late husband Patrick. Loving brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many. James was devoted to his family and it was always family first. He retired from The American Stock Exchange in 1991. James was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan and would watch one game after another. He loved his family deeply and was proud of them.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Church of the Presentation, 271 West Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, NJ  from 3 PM - 7 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 10 AM at Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, NJ. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of James to the Alzheimer's Association or the Archdiocese of Newark.
