James Costello

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James Costello, who left us on August 29, 2024, at the age of 51. Jimmy was born in New York City on May 14, 1973, grew up in Ramsey, NJ and resided in Mahwah, NJ for the last 20 years.

Jimmy was a much loved son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend. Jimmy dedicated his career to serving and protecting people in the Bergen County community. He served as a Ramsey firefighter, police officer and a detective at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

Throughout his life, Jimmy was an integral member of the community and will be greatly missed. Jimmy is survived by his mother and father, Patricia and John, his siblings Allison, Declan, Robert and his wife Jill, Christopher and Stephen, and his nephews Colin, Sean and Carson. Jimmy also leaves behind his aunts and uncles, many cousins, a large number of longtime friends and brothers and sisters in Law Enforcement.

He will be greatly missed by his family and the countless friends whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmy’s memory may be made to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center - Cardiology and the Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department.
