James P. Dolan, Jr. of Ramsey, formerly of Mahwah and Allendale, passed away peacefully at his home in Lake George on September 1, 2024. He was 83 years old. Jim was born on September 13, 1940 to the late James and Adele Dolan. He grew up in Jackson Heights, Queens with his four siblings where he fondly remembered playing stoop ball and bottle caps with all the other Irish kids on the block. James was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who graduated from Power Memorial Academy and Iona College. He began his professional journey at 3M Company in New York City before finding his true calling on Wall Street. His nearly 50-year career, starting as a Municipal Bond Specialist at Ramirez & Co., spanned prominent roles at Kidder, Peabody & Co., Paine Webber, UBS Financial Services, and culminated at Morgan Stanley in NYC.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jim was devoted to his community. He was a dedicated coach for the Mahwah Youth Sports Program for 15 years and a cherished member of the Guardian Angel Church in Allendale. Anyone who knew Jim knew of his boundless generosity and his ability to have a conversation with anyone. He was lovingly called “grandpa” by so many in addition to his five grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to celebrate his family's milestones and successes. Jim’s life was marked by a profound sense of pride for his life and the family that he created with his late wife, Ceclia. He enjoyed his summers in Lake George where he spent his days getting breakfasts at the Silo, indulging in extra thick chocolate shakes at Stewart’s, and striking up conversations with everyone at Freds. When back in Ramsey, he found comfort in his daily routines like his Dunkin Donuts coffee runs (especially in the fall for his pumpkin spice lattes) and getting his morning NY Post. On weekends, you could usually find him watching the Yankees or cheering on Syracuse while catching up on the latest news in crypto. Jim had a passion for traveling which took him around the globe, including the 2018 trip to Ireland he made with his children and grandchildren to the area that his ancestors were from. This journey and his annual trips with his siblings and their spouses were among some of the trips that he treasured most.
He was predeceased by his wife, Cecilia, and his daughter, Coleen. Jim’s memory lives on through his daughter, Donna Dolan Czuj and her husband Mark; his sons, James Dolan and his wife Helen, John Dolan and his wife Kathleen, and Daniel Dolan and his wife Holly; and his five grandchildren, Devin, Dillon, Caitlynn, Mia, and Mac. He is also survived by his loving siblings, Robert Dolan, Diane Ramirez and her husband Sam, Linda Leone and her husband Charlie, and Thomas Dolan and his wife Wende as well as his many nieces and nephews.
James P. Dolan, Jr. will be remembered not only for his remarkable professional achievements but also for the profound impact he had on those around him. The legacy he has left behind is one of immense generosity, unwavering devotion to his family, a constant thirst for life, and the lasting mark he left on the hearts of all who knew him.
