James R. Thomas

James R. Thomas, 95, died June 7, 2026 in Allendale, NJ. He was born in Danville, PA March 12, 1931, the son of John L. and Helen Shultz Thomas. He graduated from Danville High School in 1949 and from Gettysburg College in 1953.

James is survived by daughters Lori and husband Edward McCue and Kathy and husband James Peterson; grandsons Scott Peterson and wife Mallory, Matthew McCue and wife Marissa and Steven McCue and wife Drisanna; and great-grandson Chase Peterson and great-granddaughter Paige Peterson. Cousin William H. Schultz of Danville also survives.

Following his retirement as CEO of the Bestfoods Baking Group and of S.B. Thomas, Inc. in 1993, he was active in a number of civic, political and educational organizations.

He is interred in Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ. The memorial service will be 12:00 Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Calvary Lutheran Church 165 W. Crescent Road Allendale, NJ
