Jill D. Parenti

Jill peacefully passed away on January 26, 2026 at the Villa Marie Clair Hospice in Saddle River.  Up until the end, she lived her life with independence, warmth, and a deep appreciation for the sweeter things in life. A devoted foodie and vegetarian for over 50 years, Jill especially loved baking and desserts, finding joy both in creating them and sharing them with others. She loved to shop and had a strong sense of what she liked. She enjoyed watching a good tennis match and had a deep love of music.

Fiercely independent, Jill rarely asked for help—even when she needed it—which could be frustrating for those who cared about her, but was also a reflection of her strength and determination.

Jill spent 30 years at Becton Dickinson as an Executive Assistant, a role she took great pride in. There, she formed many lasting friendships and had been enjoying retirement since 2018.

Jill was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley, and her father, Frank Parenti Jr., who served for 25 years as Allendale’s Chief of Police. A lifelong animal lover, Jill passionately supported animal rescue organizations and always rescued her own pets. She leaves behind her beloved dog, Minnie, who was her entire world and will live out the rest of her life with Jill’s dear friend, Diane. Jill also leaves behind many wonderful friends and supportive neighbors who will miss her greatly.

Donations in Jill’s memory may be made to the Holy Name Foundation, in support of Villa Marie Claire, or to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, in honor of her lifelong love of animals.

Burial will be private.
