Joan Marie (Mullen) Frost

Joan Marie (nee Mullen) Frost, 91, of Woodbridge, Virginia, formerly Ramsey, New Jersey, and Williamsburg, VA, passed away on June 8, 2026. Joan was born on February 4, 1935, to Joseph Gilbert and Agnes (Cahill) Mullen in New York City, and grew up in the close-knit Inwood neighborhood of Manhattan. A woman of intelligence and quiet dedication, she began her professional life as a secretary at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, where she served under the distinguished prosecutor Frank S. Hogan. Throughout her life, Joan found joy in the finer things, such as vibrant New York theatre and unique dining experiences. Along with her husband William, they explored all corners of the earth, from Europe, and Paris especially, to Bermuda, China, Australia, and the beauty of Hawaii and the Pacific Coast, more specifically San Francisco. Following her marriage, Joan devoted herself to family life, raising her children in River Edge and later Ramsey, New Jersey.

Upon retirement, she and her husband William made their home in Williamsburg, Virginia, where they spent nearly 30 years immersed in the beauty and rich colonial history of the region. Their home became a welcoming destination for beloved friends and family, who treasured every visit. Joan was predeceased by her husband, William, and her beloved daughter Michelle. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Diane Tivnan (Mike) and Jennifer, both of Woodbridge, Virginia, and her cherished grandchildren, Sean and Riley Tivnan. She is also survived by her sister Lucille Kelly of Congers, New York, and was preceded in death by her sister Mary Lou Callahan of Glen Rock, New Jersey. Joan will be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, and all whose lives she touched.

A viewing will be held at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home of Ramsey, New Jersey on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 4 - 8 PM, with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 19, 2026 held at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Ramsey at 10 AM. Burial services will immediately follow at the Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.
