John Fodi

John Fodi, age 91, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY. He was born in Bakonyjako, Hungary on November 23, 1931, to the late Rosalia (Andl) and Janos Fodi. John was always proud of where he came from as he faced many hardships growing up in Hungary. He was a quiet and reserved man who could appreciate the simple things in life. He lived in Upper Saddle River, NJ most of his life and in his later years moved to Union, KY to be closer to his son, daughter in law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. John was always very generous and adored his son and daughter in law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a strong work ethic and was dedicating to providing for his wife and family. He retired from Ford Motor Company after working many years as a tool maker. He won many awards for his suggestions at the Ford Motor Company. John was a father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all those who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marie Claire Fodi; son, Gary Fodi; and his siblings, Mary Glaser, and Nick Fodi. Survivors include his loving son, John (Kathy) Fodi, Jr.; beloved grandchildren, John Ryan Fodi, Kristen (Will) Fodi Gillespie, and Kaitlin (Keena) Fodi Westmoreland; great-grandchildren, Vada Marie Gillespie, Iris Claire Westmoreland, Zoe Abigail Gillespie, and Ivy Marie Westmoreland; his siblings, Ellie (George) Fenyohazi, Joe (Nancy) Fodi, Istvan Fodi, Anna Szabo, and Rosalia Szalay; several nieces and nephews; as well as other friends and relatives who will cherish his memory.  A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Ave, Mahwah, NJ 07430.
