John Henry Owsik

John Owsik, 73, of Ramsey, NJ, passed away on April 16, 2021. John was the beloved husband of Luba for 48 years; loving father of Christina and husband Michael, Larissa, and Justine; cherished grandfather of Bryce and Gavin; son of the late John and Isabelle Owsik and oldest brother to Frances, Frank, Sophie and Joseph.
John had a long standing career in IT, serving as a data programmer/analyst, data recovery specialist, and co-owner of Vanguard Systems. John was a member of both the Knights of Columbus and the St. Paul’s Mens Cornerstone.
John devoted his life to his family, and the center of his world was his three daughters. John could not help but brag about his daughters, any chance he got and to anyone who would listen. One could not mistake the intense pride he had for the three of them and their accomplishments.
Together, John and his family enjoyed annual vacations to Wildwood Crest, and he shared his lifelong love of music and marching bands. From performing the marching timpani drums in the Sacred Heart Crusaders to volunteering with the Ramsey High School “Big Blue” Marching Band and the Bridgeman Drum & Bugle Corps, music and marching were in his blood.
Grandsons, Bryce and Gavin, were the twinkle in John’s eyes, from high fives, to FaceTimes, to big hugs — his two little “buddies” brought so much joy to his life. In the words of his grandson, Bryce: “Sleep tight, Grandpa. Don’t let the bed bugs bite. I love you…mwah!”
Visitation will be held on Monday from 3 - 7 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 10 AM at St. Paul RC Church in Ramsey. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Ramsey High School Marching Band.
