John Morace Obituary

John L. Morace was born and raised in Queens, New York, graduating high school on Long Island. He attended Virginia Military Institute and received his master’s degree in engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Following his years of service in the Army Corp. of Engineers, he and his wife, RoseMarie, settled in New Jersey to raise their four children.

After working in the field of engineering for several years, John changed careers and became a successful commodities trader. Subsequently, he founded the financial clearinghouse Silgo Corp. and served as its president.

In his mid-50s, John purchased Podere San Luigi, a villa with an overgrown vineyard in the hills of Tuscany, Italy. There he learned to grow and produce fine wine and exceptional olive oil and provided summer lodging for visitors. Many wonderful extended vacations were spent there with friends and family.

John and RoseMarie also enjoyed traveling the world with their many friends but were never as happy as when they spent time with their family. They especially enjoyed family trips to Italy and wintertime vacations in Aruba.

John lived for his family and spent his last days with them by his side. His health and wellbeing were most closely attended to by his daughter, Catherine, while his sons John and Philip cared for him as well.

John is the beloved husband of the late RoseMarie Morace and the loving father of Barbara Sanderman and husband Robert; John L. Morace and loving partner Thomas Kennedy; Philip Morace; and Catherine Warnet and husband John. He is the cherished grandfather of Alicia Sanderman and husband Gustavo Gutierrez; Janine Gale and husband Ross; Sarah M. Henderson and husband James; Joshua Warnet and wife Alexandra; and Peter Warnet. He is the adored great-grandfather of James Gale.

John was also a devoted brother to his sister Sandra Morace Meyer, his sister-in-law Sandra McNally and her husband John, and his brother-in-law Phil Forlenza (deceased) and his wife Rita. He also cherished his nieces and nephews and their children.

John will be greatly missed.
