Jack was pre-deceased by his sister Patsy Kolavitch, as well as his father John Jr. and his mother Albina. He is survived by his brother Richard Remo, George Remo and sister Linda Remo.
Grampa (Grumpa) was the cherished grandfather of Alexandra Taggart (Duffy)and husband Matt, Nicole Britt (Duffy) and husband Joe, Jessica Kling (Remo)and husband Lincoln, Jaclyn Lombardi (Remo) and husband Steve, Hannah Remo, and two grandsons, Ryan and Kyle Remo. Jack was also fortunate enough to have spent time with all 7 great grandchildren, Samantha and Jack Taggart, Blair and Joseph Britt, Miles and Owen Kling, and Luca Lombardi.
Jack was a life long resident of Mahwah, graduated from Ramsey High school. After high school he joined the service and was a member of the United States Air Force, where he served from 1955 – 1959. He talked fondly of his time spent in Alaska, and how he was stationed in Cape Cod and would drive to Mahwah to see Joan while they were dating. He spent his working career (25 plus years) as an Industrial Engineer at Ford Motor Company in Mahwah. He retired after the plant closed at the age of 55. The closing of the plant allowed for him to follow his passion, which were his kids and his flowers. He built his greenhouses, by himself, which he operated for the next thirty years. He could always be seen at a football, basketball or baseball game, watching his sons Jeff and Roger play. In later years he enjoyed watching Jeff coach at Mahwah High School, he also happened to be Jeff’s biggest critic…. He always enjoyed time at Sea Isle City with Sandie and Sean. Grampa was always the one calling the grand kids and making sure they knew what the weather was going to be like, no matter where they lived. In his younger days he was an avid freshwater fisherman, and in his later years traded in the boat for the slot machine. Famous for his “Let me ask you a question” and “Joanie” calls. Jack was brought up old school, and instilled those values in everyone he met, you always knew where you stood with him.
His absence will leave a gaping hole in our lives, but the memories will live in each of us to eternity. Rest in Peace Dad – “Job well done”
