Judith Ann Lowry, of Mahwah, N.J. passed away peacefully, comforted by the love of her family on November 2, 2023. She was 85. Judith was born in Jamestown, N.Y. on February 26, 1938. Her parents, George J. Smith and Mary G. Donohue raised Judith in Port Jervis and Flushing N.Y. She was a graduate of Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School for Girls and Queens College. Judith married her beloved husband, Edward J. Lowry, Jr. (Ed) in 1962 and the couple settled in Norwood and Harrington Park, N.J. where they raised their five children: Todd, Scott, Erin, Maura and Mark. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother to eight grandchildren. Judith had a long career as an elementary school teacher in the West Nyack, N.Y. school district, Immaculate Conception Parish in Norwood, N.J. and the River Vale, N.J. school district. After retiring in the late 1990’s, she and Ed moved to Palm Desert, CA to pursue their life-long dream and enjoy the desert and mountain beauty and many warm winter days. She returned to New Jersey in 2010 after the death of her husband. Judith loved to read, travel, garden, watch T.V. sitcoms and listen to music from the 1960’s. She was a devoted Catholic and most of all, treasured her time with family and friends. Judith is survived by her four children: Todd Lowry, Scott Lowry and his wife, Eileen, Erin Lowry and Maura Boyd and her husband, Eric as well as eight cherished grandchildren: Eric, Jr., Austin and Shelby Boyd; Ryan and Kate Lowry; Ava and Quinn Lowry and Todd Lowry, Jr. Judith was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Lowry, Jr., and her son Mark Lowry. The family will hold a remembrance mass for Judith in December 2023 with a private burial to follow.
