Kimberley Ludwig Obituary

It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Kimberley Ann Ludwig on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Kimberley left us far too soon at the age of 62, following a courageous three-and-a-half-year battle with brain cancer.

Born on September 16th, 1963 to Ann and Theodore (Ted) Sutter, Kim lived her childhood and adolescent years in Edgewater, New Jersey, developing a Jersey accent so thick it could only come from the shores of the Hudson River. She was a proud graduate of Leonia High School, Class of 1981. She later moved to Upper Saddle River, where she would eventually raise her family.

In August of 1980, Kimberley went on a first date with a boy from Closter who would become the man she loved deeply for more than 45 years. Ronald (Ron) Ludwig and Kim were married on May 14, 1983, and together built a beautiful life, raising four children: Lauren, Ronnie, Megan, and Madeline. Ron and Kim loved vacationing in places like the Outer Banks of North Carolina and The Catskills Winter Clove Inn, going to dinner with their many lifelong friends, and simply spending time together on the couch after a long day. Their favorite place was their home in Summerfield, Florida, where you’d typically find Kim sunbathing or spending time with Ron’s parents next door. Ron was always there for Kim, from the nightly foot and head massage he never denied her to being her loving caretaker in her final years.

Kimberley was a dedicated and hardworking woman throughout her life. She worked alongside her father at Suburban Striping & Sealing. She was an exceptional homemaker and mother to her children known for her warmth, generosity, and ability to make everyone feel like family. Her home was always open—especially during the holidays, when Thanksgiving became a tradition where all were welcome. She had a deep love and unbreakable bond with her dogs, who remained faithfully by her side, offering comfort and companionship throughout her journey. A devoted and loving grandmother of seven, Kim loved her role as “Gigi” and spoiled her grandchildren every chance she got.

Friends, family, and acquaintances can all agree that Kimberley was truly one of a kind. Affectionately known as Kimmy or Kimbo, she was always the life of a party. Her laugh was contagious and her smile was so big her eyes disappeared when it was in full force. Her signature move was the “Kimmy call”, a whistle so loud and unmistakable it was heard by everyone at graduations, football games, and dance recitals alike. She will be lovingly remembered for her “Kimmyisms” and for the joy, laughter, and love she brought everywhere she went. The world is dimmer without her, but those lucky enough to know her will carry her spirit with them forever.

Despite the challenges of her illness, Kimberley’s positive spirit and remarkable sense of humor never wavered. She continued to find joy in everyday moments and brought laughter to those around her, even in the most difficult times. Every day she lived with brain cancer was a testament to her strength—she fought tirelessly, never losing hope.

Kimberley is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Ludwig; her children, Lauren Chacon (Gerald) of New Windsor, NY, Ronnie Ludwig (Deirdre McKeon) of Philadelphia, PA, Megan Smith of Seguin, TX, and Madeline Ludwig (Daniel Demarest) of Park Ridge, NJ; her grandchildren, Santiago, Dexter and Aya Chacon, Mac and Rosie Ludwig, and Owen and Fiadh Smith; her sister, Linda Sutter; her mother, Ann Sutter; her mother-in-law, Gail Patricia Ludwig; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Joseph Ludwig (Kathy), Robert Ludwig (Alice), Liz Ludwig, and her nieces. Kim was predeceased by her brother, Brian Sutter; her father, Theodore Sutter; and her father-in-law, Joseph Ludwig.

While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the incredible love, strength, and joy she brought into our lives. Kimberley will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. Private cremation services were held, and Kimberley now rests at home, surrounded by the love of her family.

As Kimmy would always say, “LOVE YAS!”
